What helps to sleep better? Is a peaceful environment important or we can be as tired and sleepy that it would  not count? Our article is looking for the answers and not only to these questions but tries to help with useful advices and tips for those who suffer from insomnia!

Sleeping disorders are usually caused by environmental or lifestyle factors or make them even worse. Therefore it is very important to create a conscious sleeping environment so that we could keep and even amend our good night sleep. We are trying to give a few tips below.

The ideal sleeping environment is important!

Let's plan our ideal sleeping environment! It is a little different for everyone: should there be a little source of light or the full darkness is better (curtain or shutter)? If the temperature of bedroom is little lower than the other parts of the flat it helps to fall asleep easier in the case of most of the people. Let's look for bed and bedclothes according to our taste and demand of comfort.

We must know one thing specially in that case if we are dealing with sleeping disorders: the change of the bed itself will not change our state, sleeping disorders are not caused only by uncomfortable beds. 

Bedroom secrets

The bedroom should be a real bedroom and the bed should serve the function of sleeping. The bedroom and the bed should be used only for sleeping and romance. We should not work or study in the bed laying down and rather a comfortable armchair or another bed should be used for resting, reading, watching TV but not that one we use for sleeping.

Tricks before going to bed

No matter how overwhelmed we are we should do only relaxing activities before going to sleep. If we think about our every day problems before going to sleep we should find another time during the day when we can think about them or learn some relaxation methods.

Let' create our own customs of sleeping! Most of the parents do that when they bed their children which is repeated every single evening (e. g. brushing teeth, fairy tale, kiss - in a given order). In case of adults creation of customs can help falling asleep as well!

We should go to sleep only when we are sleepy. We should not go to bed only because we think that we should be there! If we can not fall asleep we should not toss and turn sleeplessly because it makes the situation even worse. In this case let' s get up and do some resting or entertaining activities. When we get sleepy again we should go back to bed!

Restful lifestyle

Beside the appropriate environment the lifestyle is just as important factor in terms of helping sleeping. Try to manage a regular schedule where there is a certain time for meals, systematic exercises, recreation and recharge. These are important not only from the prospect of sleeping but from the physical and spiritual points of view as well.

Try to avoid the excessive consumption of stimulants (coffee, tea) specially if they are not used for pleasure but to balance the lack of sleep. It might sound strange at first but they can ruin the sleep of the following night.

Try to wake up at the same time each morning and you should not stay in bed all morning even after being out for the whole night – you can get up an hour later than usual.  You might be a little tired that day but you will sleep even better the following night. If you try to balance your tiredness with some naps or lots of coffee you can increase the possibility of a bad night sleep on the following night.
