Advices for choosing the ideal mattress

The most important characteristic of the perfect mattress that it provides the function of appropriate sleeping and rest. We would like to let you know the most important aspects which must be considered at choosing the right mattress.

Hard mattress – soft mattresses

Many people think that the expressly hard mattress is worth to buy. If we want to be precise than it is really true that we need a very good, rather hard mattress which gives a perfect support for the body and relieves the muscles. To accomplish this purpose the right quantity and size of mattress is needed which helps to support  the natural line and curves of the spine. It is really important that it should be hard enough to support the spine and the back but at the same time would be able to follow the shape of the body so that it would not press the muscles and would not detain blood circulation. For this reason the purchase of semi-hard mattresses are recommended.
Beside all of the above attention must be paid to the weight of the body, because if somebody is dealing with weight problems than the hardness of the mattress has a different meaning.

Support of the body

The good mattress provides appropriate body support. It has to support all muscles of the body so that they would not be uptight during sleeping and could rest. The spring mattresses for example are not following the shape of the body – even though just the opposite is thought by most of the people. To solve this problem the manufacturers cover the springs with layers but these can not provide perfect support for the body.

The center of mass of the body and the hardness of the mattress

- Our bodies' center of mass is at the middle of the waist therefore it demands the strongest support.  If the mattress is sagging during sleeping the body will not be straight which causes spine problems.
- If the surface of laying is to hard it might pressure the blood circulation, the muscles and the nerves. The good mattress then should be semi-hard or - what is recommended in these days – hard in the middle and softer at the head and feet sections: this is the so called 3-zone mattress.

The product should be tested before purchasing!

The best is if you can sleep on it.  If you can find a comfortable one  in a hotel or as a guest, ask where you could buy it. You can test the body shape following function by laying on it on your back. If you can easily place your hands under your waist the mattress is not appropriate. If the first point of the test is fine than you can lay on your side and check whether is has a pressure on your shoulder and/or waist. Please also note that the surface of the mattress, the top layer is just as important as the other attributes for your feeling of comfort. You should ask what material is used before purchasing.
If you checked all above mentioned points in our article the only thing is left to ask for other important attributes like ventilation, durability and last but not least about the price.
